Inception Phase

As noted at the beginning of the workshop, the first phase of AI-DLC is the Inception phase. The key activities involved in this phase focus on the Mob Elaboration ritual.

  • AI asks clarifying questions (e.g., "Who are the primary users? What key business outcomes should this achieve?"), ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the goal.

  • AI decomposes the intent into Units, e.g., "Game Engine," "Collision Detection," and "Scoring System."

  • AI elaborates each Unit into user stories, non-functional requirements (NFRs), and risk descriptions.

  • The team validates these outputs, adjusting wherever needed to refine the Units. for example: the team might notice that the Game Engine Unit lacks performance requirements and adjust to include frame rate specifications.

  • AI generates a PRFAQ for the Unit (optional), summarizing the business intent, functionality, and expected benefits.

  • The team validates the PRFAQ and associated risks, ensuring alignment with the overall objectives.

The screenshot below shows the first step is Requirements Gathering where the team will be asked to provide answers to questions to help clarify the requirements of the application being built.

The AI-DLC workflow will guide the team through the process, so this workshop provides high-level guidance on the phases and what to expect rather than detailed step-by-step instructions.

Once the Inception phase is complete, the team will move onto the Construction phase.
